Meet Our Attorneys
Ms. Howe concentrates her practice in probate and commercial litigation, estate planning and administration, as well as employment law. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (1987) and the University of Detroit School of Law (1992, cum laude). Beginning in 1992, Ms. Howe has concentrated her practice in employment and probate litigation, and has tried cases in the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, in the Michigan Circuit Courts including Wayne and Oakland counties, and in the Illinois Circuit Court in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. Ms. Howe has also successfully argued appeals before the Sixth Circuit United States Court of Appeals, and the Michigan Court of Appeals.
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Howe has conducted trainings for employers and assisted numerous employers in Michigan and Illinois with the development of employment policies and procedures. She has also assisted employers in the review and investigation of employee complaints, including those of sexual harassment or other workplace misconduct. Ms. Howe is a member of the American Bar Association (1992), Lake County Bar Association (2001), Illinois Bar Association (1998) and the Michigan Bar Association (1992) and is admitted to practice in Illinois, Michigan and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and the Eastern District of Michigan. She is also an active member of the Lake County Bar Association's Wills, Trust and Probate Committee, as well as an appointed member of the ISBA Trusts & Estate Section Council (2007 to present). Ms. Howe has lectured on numerous employment and probate/estate planning topics, including recent presentations titled Advanced Medical Directives – Which option is best and for whom? (LCBA Wills Trust & Probate Committee Annual Seminar, Fall 2005), and 2007 Amendments to Illinois Human Rights Act – Introduction to New Area of Law for Illinois Courts and Practitioners (LCBA Brown Bag Seminar, Winter 2008).
